US conducts new wave of strikes on Iran using unmanned surface drones
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a fresh wave of air and sea attacks against Iranian military facilities, marking the first combat use of Saronic Corsair unmanned surface vessels. The drones struck the naval base at Bandar Abbas, coastal defence sites, radar installations and missile launch positions, and also targeted a tanker that ignored U.S. blockade warnings.
Iran responded with rocket and drone attacks on U.S.‑linked sites in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, while Jordan’s air defence shot down eight Iranian missiles and Kuwait destroyed several Iranian drones. Iranian state media reported more than 30 civilian deaths and over 260 injuries from the U.S. raids; U.S. officials cited 35 Iranian fatalities and 300 wounded.
President Donald Trump warned that further strikes could target Iranian bridges and power plants if Tehran does not cease hostilities, and he signalled that the operations aim to neutralise Iran’s capability to threaten commercial shipping through the Hormuz Strait.
