US Deploys Unmanned Surface Vessel ‘Corsair’ as Iran Escalates Attacks

The United States has introduced the unmanned surface craft “Corsair” into its maritime operations against Iran. The 24‑foot, 1,000‑mile‑range vessel can travel over 35 knots, carry up to 1,000 lb of payload and conduct surveillance, intelligence‑gathering and kinetic or non‑kinetic strikes autonomously, linking to U.S. command‑and‑control networks at a fraction of the cost of conventional ships.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced a series of drone attacks targeting U.S. forces in the region. Using “Arash” loitering‑munition drones, it said it struck a U.S. Special Operations Command centre in Syria’s Tanin area and damaged helicopters and P‑8 aircraft at a base in Bahrain, as well as facilities occupied by American troops in Kuwait. The attacks were presented as retaliation for recent U.S. strikes on Iranian territory and a warning that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iranian control.
