US economic strategy targets Iran amid shifting geopolitical alliances
The United States administration under Donald Trump is pursuing a strategy of intense economic pressure to isolate Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has prepared an initiative described as an economic ‘Economic Day Z’, involving immediate sanctions against states that contravene Washington's objectives.
While Trump has expressed a desire for close relations with leaders such as Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un, these leaders may undermine U.S. efforts. Russia and China continue to support Tehran, potentially reducing the effectiveness of American economic strategies.
Additionally, while Trump has suggested that Middle East conflicts could conclude soon, advisors including JD Vance and Marco Rubio have privately considered the possibility that such conflicts could persist through the end of his term, potentially lasting until 2029.
