Saudi Arabia intercepts Houthi missiles targeting key infrastructure
Saudi Arabian authorities and the Saudi-led coalition reported the interception of several ballistic missiles and drones launched by Houthi rebels from Yemen. The strikes targeted high-profile locations, including Riyadh, Taif, Yanbu, and the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. While the coalition successfully intercepted missiles aimed at Taif and Yanbu, debris from the interceptions fell in various regions, including Jeddah, Rabigh, and Wadi al-Maghmas near Mecca.
Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for targeting multiple strategic sites, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and several Saudi Aramco oil facilities and refineries. The group also claimed to have targeted military bases and airports in Najran and Khamis Mushait.
In Yemen, Houthi forces launched missile attacks against coast guard headquarters and military sites in Aden, causing explosions near Aden International Airport. This escalation follows a period of heightened regional tension and has contributed to a surge in global oil prices, with Brent crude rising significantly following the reports of attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure.
