Iran warns war will expand if United States resumes strikes

Iran’s army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia told state television that a renewal of U.S. airstrikes would cause the West Asian conflict to broaden, saying the fighting has already spread to the Bab al‑Mandab Strait and now reaches “from U.S. bases in Jordan to the countries along the Persian Gulf.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran that any direct or proxy attack on Israel would be met with a “very, very forceful” response. Netanyahu is slated to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss these tensions.

The United States has paused its campaign of strikes against Iranian targets after a brief ceasefire collapsed, and no further attacks have been reported. Meanwhile, Washington and Oman are negotiating a framework for managing traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Trump has publicly threatened to bomb bridges and power plants in Tehran if Iran escalates, but the pause in operations remains in effect, keeping regional security and global energy markets on edge.
