U.S. Exports to Mexico Hit Record $35.3 Billion in April, Narrowing Trade Deficit

The United States recorded a new high in exports to Mexico in April, reaching $35.343 billion, up from $32.775 billion the month before. The surge helped shrink the U.S. trade deficit with Mexico to $15.348 billion, down from $18.427 billion in March.

The increase follows the Trump administration’s tariff regime on steel, aluminum and other goods introduced in March 2025, which redirected some imports from China toward Mexico and Canada. Mexico remains the top destination for U.S. exports and the United States is Mexico’s leading export market. U.S. imports of Mexican products fell slightly in April to $50.692 billion after a March peak of $51.202 billion.
