US Federal Appellate Court Allows Continuation of 10% Global Tariff

A U.S. federal appellate court in Washington ruled on Thursday that the Trump administration can keep the 10% global tariff imposed in February under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. The panel concluded that the government’s arguments are “likely to succeed” on legal grounds, providing a procedural victory for the administration.

The tariff, which applies to a broad range of imported goods, is set to expire on July 24 unless Congress approves an extension. The decision follows an earlier 2‑1 ruling by a three‑judge panel of the U.S. International Trade Court that declared the tariff unlawful. The case is expected to proceed to the Supreme Court for further review.
