US funds redirected to European conservative think tanks

Following the closure of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Trump administration's ‘America First’ agenda, US taxpayer funds are being redirected toward conservative think tanks in Europe.

The US Department of State reportedly intends to grant $12 million to conservative organizations in the United Kingdom. Of this amount, $7 million is earmarked for 878, a group co-founded by former Conservative minister Jacob Rees-Mogg. The organization describes itself as a ‘leading British and American thinktank’ aimed at strengthening the partnership between the two nations. Critics have characterized these funding moves as attempts to influence foreign politics.
