Trump announces $25 million federal fraud whistleblower program

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have unveiled the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, a $25 million initiative designed to reward individuals who report fraud against the federal government. The program, which will be administered by the Department of Justice, aims to identify the theft of taxpayer funds in areas such as hospice care, home health services, daycare operations, and special services programs.

Under the program, whistleblowers who provide verified tips leading to criminal charges or significant enforcement actions may be eligible for rewards. While official government guidelines state payments can reach up to $30,000, President Trump stated during the announcement that tipsters could receive a one percent commission on the amount of fraud uncovered.

Trump noted that he will serve as the final, binding arbitrator in cases where multiple individuals claim rewards for the same information. The administration also indicated that journalists are eligible to participate in the program. The announcement follows the administration's efforts to combat federal program abuse through a dedicated task force.
