U.S. GSA expands OneGov procurement and highlights automation gains

The General Services Administration (GSA) is promoting the results of its internal automation effort, which aims to save and automate one million federal employee hours by the end of 2026. Deputy Administrator Mike Lynch said the agency has identified roughly 850,000 hours of work that can be eliminated and will share the “Elimination, Optimization and Automation” playbook at an emerging‑technology showcase on July 30.

At the same time, GSA plans to broaden its OneGov procurement platform beyond software. Lynch said OneGov has already delivered about $1.18 billion in cost savings since its 2025 launch and that the agency will seek larger, coordinated engagements with participating firms such as Adobe, Microsoft, Google and OpenAI. The upcoming 2026 FedCiv Summit will discuss AI, cloud, cybersecurity and other modernization initiatives under the expanded OneGov scope.
