US House advances FY2027 budget resolution and unveils clean continuing resolution

On Thursday, a member of the US House voted to advance a budget resolution for fiscal year 2027. The measure is intended to put pressure on the Senate to consider the SAVE America Act, legislation the House describes as essential for election integrity and border security.

At the same time, House Republicans released the text of a "clean" continuing resolution that would extend existing funding levels through December 4, 2024. The stop‑gap proposal contains no policy riders, does not include the SAVE America Act, and omits any changes to ICE funding, aiming to avoid a government shutdown ahead of the November elections. Speaker Mike Johnson plans to bring the bill to the floor next week, while Democrats have warned that the lack of immigration‑related guardrails could be problematic.
