Despite the temporary reprieve, concerns persist as Congress has only passed two of the twelve required appropriations bills. The risk of future shutdowns has raised alarms regarding the impact on federal employees’ credit scores. In response, the Federal Worker Credit Protection Act of 2026 has been introduced in the Senate to prevent agencies from recording adverse credit information during funding lapses.
