US ICE protests mourn 75 deaths in Pasadena and Nevada

Around 50 demonstrators gathered Saturday morning in Pasadena and about 100 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City as part of a coordinated nationwide vigil. Activists from local Indivisible groups displayed photographs and names of the 75 people who have died since January 2025 during immigration‑enforcement actions, hanging yellow‑threaded fliers around their necks. Among those honored were Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdez, killed while fleeing ICE agents in Monrovia, California; 52‑year‑old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, shot by an ICE officer in Houston; and 25‑year‑old Johan Sebastian Guerrero, killed during a traffic stop in Maine. Organizers such as Andra Clarke and Betsy Hanger called the killings “fascism” and urged an “ICE‑out” stance, with supporters honking horns in solidarity. The vigils highlighted grievances that ICE actions violate constitutional rights and disproportionately target communities of color, and the groups said they will hold additional demonstrations in the weeks leading up to the upcoming midterm elections.
