At a ceremony marking the United States’ 250th Independence Day at the US Embassy in New Delhi, President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a friend and stating that India can count on the United States “100 percent.” He also referenced ongoing trade talks and a forthcoming interim trade framework, underscoring a broadening strategic partnership.

During Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s first visit to India, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar used the high‑level engagement to stress India’s core interests. New Delhi highlighted concerns over terrorism, energy security, immigration rules affecting Indian nationals, and called for stronger US involvement in the Indo‑Pacific through the Quad. The visit was framed as an opportunity to deepen US‑India cooperation while urging greater American sensitivity to India’s national priorities.
