US conducts ninth consecutive night of strikes on Iran, raising US deaths to 17

The United States military carried out its ninth straight night of airstrikes against Iranian targets, focusing on command centres, air‑defence, coastal‑surveillance, missile‑and‑drone sites and maritime infrastructure in the Strait of Hormuz. The campaign, described by CENTCOM as intended to "weaken the Iranian military capacity to attack commercial shipping and civilian mariners," continued amid escalating regional tensions.

U.S. casualties rose to 17 service members: two were killed in an Iranian missile and drone attack on a Jordanian base, a third remains missing, and a soldier died in northern Iraq while disposing of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian attack drone. Iran responded with drone and missile strikes on U.S. bases in Kuwait and Jordan, and its Revolutionary Guard claimed two oil tankers exploded in the southern Hormuz corridor.

President Donald Trump vowed "hard blows" against Iran and said the U.S. would keep pressuring Tehran. Meanwhile Iranian hard‑liners denounced the cease‑fire agreement with the United States, accusing the government of capitulation. The fighting disrupted shipping through Hormuz, pushed Brent crude above $90 a barrel and heightened concerns about broader Middle‑East instability.
