US, Iran, and Israel leaders clash at UN General Assembly

During the United Nations General Assembly in New York, leaders from the United States, Iran, and Israel delivered sharply contrasting addresses regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he faces a “great decision” regarding Iran, weighing the possibility of a successful agreement against the potential destruction of the Iranian republic. He questioned whether he should allow the nation to face a future “without hope.”

In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the assembly, marking the first time a head of government from a nation at war with the U.S. has spoken at the debate. Pezeshkian accused the U.S. of defaming Iran as a terrorist state and claimed Iran is actually a “victim of terrorism,” citing U.S. military actions against Iranian targets.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities. He characterized the decision to target these sites as a necessity to prevent a catastrophic regional outcome, stating that without such actions, “we would all be dead.” He emphasized his commitment to preventing Iran’s “murderous dictatorship” from developing nuclear weapons.
