Kuwait intercepts Iranian drone attacks amid US‑Iran Gulf escalation

Air defence forces in Kuwait reported intercepting multiple Iranian drones targeting several zones of the country as the United States and Iran trade strikes across the Gulf region. The Kuwaiti military said its systems shot down at least 39 hostile aerial objects, including missiles and unmanned aircraft, without confirming any casualties.

At the same time, Qatar’s defence ministry confirmed that its air‑defence network intercepted several missiles over Doha, one fragment causing a child injury. Iran has claimed drone attacks on US‑supported sites in Kuwait, Bahrain and the US‑run logistics centre in Kuwait, while the US Central Command announced a second wave of precision strikes on Iranian coastal defence installations and missile depots on Greater Tunb island.

Both sides have warned of broader retaliation. Iranian officials cited the Strait of Hormuz as a red line and threatened wider strikes if US pressure continues. The escalation raises concerns for maritime security in the Strait, a vital artery for global oil and gas shipments.
