US Justice Department Drops Bribery Allegations Against India's Adani Group

The United States Department of Justice announced the dismissal of the case against the Adani Group, stating that the allegations of bribery lacked concrete evidence and fell outside U.S. jurisdiction. Indian‑American business leaders welcomed the decision, saying it will revive India‑U.S. economic ties and restore confidence among investors in Indian companies operating globally.

Dr. Mukesh Agi, chair and CEO of the U.S.–India Strategic Partnership Forum, emphasized that the case was “entirely outside the scope of U.S. law” and that no money was at risk for American investors. Former White House adviser Ajay Jain Bhootoria added that the prosecution failed to prove its claims and highlighted the potential shift in American perceptions of Indian corporate investment, noting the Adani Group’s $10 billion investments.

The closure is expected to ease concerns for Indian firms seeking capital in international markets and may strengthen bilateral strategic and economic relations between the United States and India.
