US Justice Department releases millions of Epstein documents

The U.S. Justice Department has made public more than three million pages of files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The records detail Epstein’s decades‑long sex‑trafficking operation, his financial schemes, and the recruitment of under‑age girls, often paid modest sums for sexual encounters.

The documents name a roster of prominent individuals who were associated with Epstein, including former U.S. presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom, French former culture minister Jack Lang, and other politicians, financiers, and entertainers. They also outline the role of Ghislaine Maxwell in luring victims.

Epstein, a wealthy New York financier who managed money for billionaires, was arrested in July 2019 on trafficking charges and died in custody in August 2019, officially ruled a suicide but still subject to speculation. The release comes amid political controversy, with former President Trump having promised full disclosure during his 2024 campaign, only to be compelled by law to release the materials after taking office. The new evidence continues to fuel investigations and public scrutiny of elite networks.
