Trump vows 1,000 missiles at Iran after death threats

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that 1,000 missiles are "locked and loaded" and ready to strike Iran, with thousands more to follow if Tehran acts on threats to assassinate him. He said orders have been given for the U.S. military to "completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran."

The United States resumed air strikes on Iranian radar sites, missile launchers and drone depots after Iranian forces attacked commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian activists displayed banners at Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral calling for Trump’s death, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged that Iran was behind multiple plots to kill the president. U.S. Central Command confirmed the renewed attacks and described them as a response to Iran’s aggression.

Iran responded with attacks on U.S. bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, and its leadership warned of further retaliation. The exchange marks an escalation of the conflict that began with the 2024 U.S. strike on Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and has involved coordinated intelligence sharing with Israel.
