U.S. Launches Global Anti‑Left Terrorism Initiative with 66 Nations

The United States convened a meeting in Washington with representatives from 66 countries to coordinate a new counter‑terrorism effort targeting what the Trump administration describes as a resurgence of extreme‑left violence. Secretary of State Marco Rubio framed the initiative as a replication of the post‑9/11 anti‑terror architecture, expanding it to include groups identified as extremist left, and announced grant programs of $1‑3 million for European civil societies to combat “censorship” and promote “civilizational ties”. The meeting, attended by delegations from Spain, Germany, Canada, Italy, Israel, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and others, also introduced a visa‑restriction policy for individuals linked to designated left‑wing terrorist organizations. The U.S. Department of State previously labeled several European groups as foreign terrorist entities and offered up to $10 million in rewards for information on their financing.
