US launches Iranian strikes and unveils Hamas disarmament framework
The United States carried out a heavy wave of airstrikes on dozens of targets belonging to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, including command centres, missile and drone facilities, and coastal defence sites, in retaliation for an Iranian missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. Iran reported injuries on Qeshm Island and explosions in Khuzestan province, while the strikes also affected vessels in Egypt’s Damietta port.
At the same time, President Donald Trump announced that a deal had been reached to disarm Hamas and withdraw Israeli forces from Gaza. The plan calls for phased disarmament of Hamas, the establishment of an international stabilization force, a new Palestinian police corps, and reconstruction of the enclave. Neither Hamas nor Israel confirmed the agreement, and details on timelines and implementation remain uncertain.
