U.S. military strikes speedboat in Eastern Pacific, killing two

U.S. military forces conducted a strike on a speedboat in the Eastern Pacific on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of two men. The U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) identified the individuals as ‘narco-terrorists,’ stating that confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in drug trafficking along known maritime routes.

A declassified ten-second video shows the high-speed vessel being struck by a projectile, causing an explosion and fire. This operation is part of a year-long campaign aimed at disrupting the maritime transport of narcotics to the United States. Since September 2025, the death toll from similar U.S. strikes in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific has exceeded 200.

However, the Trump administration has not provided conclusive evidence to verify the illegal activities of the targeted vessels. Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, along with independent UN experts, have criticized these military strikes, alleging they violate international law and constitute extrajudicial executions.
