US Navy deploys over 20 warships to Middle East amid rising Iran tension

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that more than 20 U.S. Navy warships are presently patrolling the waters of the Middle East. The deployment is presented as part of an effort to maintain security and stability in the region.

The move follows a recent escalation that includes Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. strikes on Iranian sites such as Jareh Island and underground drone and missile storage facilities, and reciprocal attacks on U.S. bases in Gulf states. President Donald Trump warned of a possible further U.S. strike that night, and the United States has indicated it will keep the naval presence in place until a final agreement with Iran is reached.
