US Navy to increase carrier supplies after USS Abraham Lincoln shortages

The US Navy is implementing changes to future aircraft carrier deployments following reports of severe shortages and grueling conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. During a nearly nine-month mission that included 200 days in combat zones supporting Operation Epic Fury, the vessel faced critical shortages of food, hygiene products, and essential supplies. These difficulties were reportedly exacerbated after an Iranian attack on a Navy base in Bahrain disrupted a key supply hub.

Reports from family members and Representative Mike Levin highlighted extreme conditions, including lack of hot water, broken toilets, and insufficient food. The strain on the 5,000 sailors and Marines onboard reportedly led to mental health concerns. The USS Abraham Lincoln recently completed a port call in Pattaya, Thailand, to allow the crew to rest before returning to California.

In response, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle announced that the upcoming deployment of the USS Theodore Roosevelt will prioritize maximizing the loadout of food, retail products, and hygiene items to prevent similar shortages during potentially extended missions.
