The 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) includes Section 224, titled the “United States‑Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative.” The provision would link U.S. and Israeli defense systems, sharing technology, production, intelligence, and data across areas such as AI, quantum computing, autonomous weapons, directed energy, cyber and biotech. Critics, including the Ron Paul Institute, argue the measure threatens U.S. sovereignty, citing the Pentagon’s recent designation of Israel as a “critical” espionage threat. They contend the integration could obligate the United States to support Israel’s future conflicts and diminish congressional oversight of defense cooperation.
