West Bank settler violence escalates during olive harvest

Violence in the West Bank has escalated during the olive harvest season, marked by a surge in settler attacks against Palestinian farmers and property. The United Nations reports that these attacks have resulted in one death and over 120 injuries across the region. Notable incidents include the cutting of 120 olive trees in Kisan and various raids on agricultural lands.

International tensions have risen following attacks on foreign nationals. A diplomatic delegation from Belgium, France, and Poland, including a French mayor, was targeted by settlers in At-Taybeh. Additionally, Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine was injured in a settler assault, prompting US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to demand that Israel take strict measures to deter such violence. The US administration expressed deep concern, stating that the President does not support these escalations.

Simultaneously, reports from the Palestinian Prisoner Club indicate increased repression within Israeli prisons since October 7. This includes the use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and solitary confinement, specifically affecting female prisoners at Al-Damon prison. In Gaza, the Israeli military announced the killing of three individuals identified as members of Hamas's military wing during airstrikes.
