US President Trump threatens Iran with bridge and power‑plant strikes

US President Donald Trump warned he would bomb Iran's bridges and power plants unless Tehran returns to negotiations, after retracting a proposed 20% fee on cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz and offering large trade and investment deals with Gulf states to protect shipping.

At the same time, US Central Command conducted a seven‑hour operation targeting Iranian military sites near the strait. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on US‑linked targets in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, which were intercepted by Kuwaiti and Bahraini defenses. Iran also fired at commercial vessels, killing an Indian sailor off Oman and damaging two UAE‑flagged oil tankers.
