Typhoon Saudel causes deadly landslides and flooding in China
Typhoon Saudel has caused widespread destruction across eastern China, triggering deadly landslides and severe flooding. In Jiangxi province, a mudslide in Suichuan County has resulted in at least three deaths and left several people missing. Rescue operations are ongoing, with over 640 personnel deployed to the area.
In Fujian province, the storm's impact has been equally severe. More than 600,000 residents have been evacuated from high-risk areas. Heavy rainfall led to the collapse of over 100 houses in Huating Town, Putian, and caused a dike to breach, flooding local villages.
Authorities have activated emergency response levels in multiple provinces to manage the geological and flood risks. The typhoon, which has made multiple landfalls in Zhejiang and Fujian, continues to saturate the soil, maintaining a high risk of secondary disasters.
