US Secretary of State Marco Rubio addresses ICC sanctions and Saudi Arabia attacks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued statements regarding two distinct international issues. First, he announced sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC), a move that has drawn sharp criticism from Haris Tzimetras, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson for EL. A. S. Tzimetras described the decision as ‘reprehensible and extremely dangerous,’ warning that undermining international judicial institutions threatens global legality and allows power to supersede international law.
Separately, Rubio strongly condemned recent attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically a strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh attributed to Houthi terrorists. Rubio noted that the attacks resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including the death of an American citizen, and stated that the United States stands with the Saudi people.
