US Secretary Rubio Says Iran Peace Deal Could Be Announced Today

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters in New Delhi that a deal to end the war between the United States and Iran may be announced within hours. While progress has been made on a provisional agreement, both sides confirmed that a resolution on Iran’s high‑enriched uranium stockpile is not included in the current draft.

Rubio also reaffirmed Israel’s right to self‑defence, echoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement that Israel may act against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is mediating the talks, expressed optimism that a new round of negotiations will begin soon.

The tentative agreement, if finalized, would lift the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, restore commercial shipping through the waterway and ease sanctions on Iran’s economy, though nuclear discussions are slated for later talks.
