US Senate Agriculture Committee Advances 2026 Farm Bill Markup

Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman scheduled a Thursday morning markup of the Agricultural Act of 2026, moving the Senate toward a new five‑year Farm Bill. The draft legislation would continue investments in agricultural research, conservation, crop risk management, export promotion and international food assistance, and it serves as the foundation for USDA programs that affect farmers, ranchers and rural communities across the United States.

The bill also adds the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which would allow year‑round sales of E15 gasoline nationwide, removing a seasonal restriction tied to EPA vapor‑pressure rules. Boozman noted that oil companies and large refineries oppose the provision, but said the Senate can modify it later if needed. The Farm Bill still requires approval by the full Senate, passage by the House, and the President’s signature before becoming law.
