US Senate Farm Bill E15 ethanol provision

In late July 2026, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman released an updated draft of the 2026 Farm Bill that permanently authorized year‑round sales of E15 gasoline. The proposal attached the E15 language to the farm bill to improve its chances of passage and also revised SNAP cost‑sharing rules. The committee scheduled a markup of the bill for early August.

By early August, the committee moved forward with the markup, outlining the broader Farm Bill’s investments in research, conservation, risk management, export promotion and food assistance. The draft also included the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which would lift the seasonal restriction on E15 sales. Boozman noted opposition from oil companies and large refineries but said the Senate could modify the provision later. The bill still required approval by the full Senate, the House and the President.
