U.S. Space Force expands training and officer commissioning

The United States is expanding its space-related training and leadership pipelines. A new Space Academy has been established, with graduates intended to serve within the U.S. Space Force, NASA, and the civilian flight industry.

In a related development within the U.S. Space Force, four enlisted Guardians from Space Delta 15 and the National Space Defense Center have been selected to commission as officers. The individuals, Tech. Sgt. Caleb Lynch, Sgt. David Palmer, Spc. 4 Jesse Coppedge, and Spc. 4 William McLaughlin, were chosen through competitive military training programs. This includes the Senior Leader Enlisted Commissioning Program, which allows the Department of the Air Force to select high-performing enlisted members for direct commissioning. Spc. 4 Jesse Coppedge, a cyber intelligence analyst, was personally selected by Gen. Chance Saltzman, the Chief of Space Operations.
