US States File Antitrust Suit to Block Paramount‑Skydance Warner Bros Acquisition
A coalition of U.S. states, led by California and New York, is preparing a lawsuit to block Paramount Skydance’s proposed $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. The states argue the deal would concentrate control of major media outlets—including CBS and CNN—under Trump‑ally David Ellison, raising antitrust and competition concerns.
The filing, expected in the coming weeks, follows a DOJ review that has already issued subpoenas on the merger’s impact on studio output, streaming competition and theatrical distribution. Lawmakers such as Senator Elizabeth Warren and more than 1,000 Hollywood figures have publicly opposed the transaction, warning it could further reduce competition in an already concentrated media market.
