US states launch impaired driving enforcement campaigns

Law enforcement agencies in Delaware and Michigan have launched the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to increase visibility and enforcement against impaired driving ahead of the Labor Day weekend.

In Delaware, the Office of Highway Safety and state police are conducting high-visibility patrols through September 8. Data from 2021 to 2025 shows that nearly one in three fatal crashes in the state involved impairment. Authorities noted that impairment includes alcohol, cannabis, and prescription medications.

In Michigan, the State Police and local agencies are expanding road patrols through September 7. Between 2021 and 2025, Michigan recorded 46 driver fatalities during Labor Day holiday weekends, with approximately 39.1% of those deaths involving alcohol or drug impairment. Michigan officials emphasized that arrests can be made at any blood alcohol concentration level if a driver shows signs of impairment.
