US Strikes Iran as Tehran Delays Return to Negotiations

The United States launched a new wave of airstrikes against Iran, targeting dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal defense sites and maritime capabilities. The attacks were described by the U.S. Central Command as a “strong response” to an IRGC ballistic missile launch aimed at U.S. forces the previous night. President Donald Trump warned that Washington would “hit very hard.”

Iranian officials said there is no armistice and that Tehran is not in a hurry to resume direct talks with Washington. They emphasized the need for international recognition of Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz and noted ongoing mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar. The continued uncertainty raises the risk of renewed fighting and further economic strain on Iran.
