Armenia schedules electricity cuts and revises parliamentary oath amid foreign policy tensions

Deputy Foreign Minister Mnasik Safaryan warned that Armenia is increasingly uneasy about Russia and said the TRIPP project must comply with EU‑EAEU transit rules. He referenced a recent phone conversation with President Putin on bilateral cooperation.

Central Election Commission President Vahagn Hovakimyan asserted the commission’s independence, noting it has overseen more than ten elections without dispute.

The National Assembly approved amendments to the text of MPs’ oath, adding language that stresses the Republic’s independence, sovereignty, the protection of human rights and a tribute to war heroes.

Armenia’s electric utility announced planned temporary power interruptions on 2 July for maintenance works in several Yerevan districts (Ajapnyak, Malatia‑Sebastia, Erevan) and in villages of Aragatsotn, Lori and Tavush, urging customers to observe safety rules.
