US Supreme Court faces wave of rulings on voting rights, tariffs and district maps

The U.S. Supreme Court is poised to issue a series of high‑profile decisions as the spring term ends. Recent rulings have struck down much of former President Donald Trump’s tariff policy, sharply narrowed the scope of the Voting Rights Act and handed Republicans an edge in a partisan redistricting dispute.

Analysts note the Court is also hearing cases on birth‑right citizenship, the dismissal of independent officials, broader immigration issues and the participation of transgender athletes in sports. Several justices, including Ketanji Brown Jackson, have voiced concern that the timing and handling of these rulings may deepen perceptions of the Court as a political body.
