US Supreme Court issues conservative rulings on migrants, Roundup lawsuits and gun rights

On June 25 the United States Supreme Court issued a series of conservative‑leaning decisions. It ended temporary protections for Syrian and Haitian migrants, ruled that migrants cannot apply for asylum from Mexico, and rejected a Trump administration challenge to birthright citizenship. The Court also blocked state lawsuits against Bayer’s Roundup weed‑killer, holding that federal courts lack jurisdiction over the claims, and struck down a Hawaii law limiting the public carrying of firearms.

In separate cases the Court expanded presidential authority to remove officials, holding that the president may dismiss a Federal Trade Commission commissioner and a member of the Federal Reserve Board. These rulings illustrate the Court’s growing influence over executive‑branch staffing and policy.
