Palestine Action designated as global terrorist group by US

The United States Treasury Department has designated the UK-based activist group Palestine Action as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). This move follows a similar proscription by the United Kingdom in July 2025. The designation subjects the group to US sanctions, including the freezing of assets under US jurisdiction and a prohibition on US persons conducting transactions with the organization.

As part of a broader crackdown on what the Trump administration describes as violent far-left terrorist networks, the US also sanctioned the Italy-based entity Autistici/Inventati for allegedly providing digital infrastructure to extremist groups. Additionally, the transnational group Masar Badil was sanctioned for its alleged role as a front for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

Palestine Action, founded in 2020, has frequently targeted defense companies with links to Israel, most notably Elbit Systems. US officials cited the group's promotion of disruptive tactics on social media as a reason for the designation. Co-founders Richard Barnard and Huda Ammori face lifetime bans from entering the United States. The group's leadership has criticized the decisions as hypocritical and an attack on freedom of expression.
