U.S. Treasury yields rise amid shifting labor market data

U.S. Treasury yields remained elevated during the week ending October 2, with the 10-year yield reaching 5.3% and the 30-year yield hovering around 5.6%. While weak nonfarm payroll data—showing only 29,000 jobs added compared to an expected 84,000—briefly triggered a relief rally, yields quickly reversed course. The unemployment rate rose to 4.2%, exceeding economist expectations of 4.1%.

In the equity markets, Realty Income (O) has seen its stock price drop by approximately 13% over the past month, raising its dividend yield to 6.1%. Despite facing challenges from higher interest rates and carrying over $30 billion in debt, the real estate investment trust (REIT) recently implemented a small increase in its monthly dividend, marking its 116th consecutive quarterly payout increase since going public in 1994.
