US Vice President JD Vance heads to Switzerland for Iran nuclear talks and Lebanon ceasefire discussions
US Vice President JD Vance departed Washington on 21 June aboard a Gulfstream C‑37 aircraft bound for Switzerland, where talks near Lucerne are expected to last several days. Iranian negotiators have already arrived, and Vance said he hopes “to make progress on the nuclear issue and move forward on the Lebanon ceasefire issue.”
The meetings will focus on technical and political aspects of Tehran’s nuclear program while also addressing the fragile cease‑fire in Lebanon that has been threatened by renewed Israel‑Hezbollah clashes. US officials see the diplomatic effort as essential for regional stability, aiming to set up a framework for future negotiations and keep both Israel and Lebanon safe.
