U.S. wrestlers advance to repechage at U20 World Championships

At the 2026 U20 World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, American Greco-Roman wrestlers Leister Bowling IV and Aidan Squier have advanced to the repechage round. Both athletes require two consecutive wins to qualify for the bronze medal matches.

Bowling IV, competing in the 77 kg category, lost 6-0 to Armenia’s Samvel Terteryan. Squier, in the 87 kg category, was defeated 10-2 by Japan’s Taizo Yoshida. Other U.S. Greco-Roman competitors, Trayvn Boger and Nicholas Sorrow, were eliminated from medal contention following losses to opponents from Iran and Japan.

The U.S. women’s freestyle wrestling roster is scheduled to compete in various weight classes from August 18 through August 21, including athletes such as Morgan Turner and Taylor Whiting.
