USA participation in U20 World Wrestling Championships

Overview

The United States announced its rosters for the 2026 U20 World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. The men’s freestyle delegation, led by coaches J’den Cox, Zo El Ouarraqe, and Cory Crooks, included ten athletes such as Isaiah Cortez, Bo Bassett, and Dreshaun Ross. The women’s freestyle roster featured notable athletes including 2025 champion Everest Leydecker, Morgan Turner, Taina Fernandez, and Piper Fowler.

During the Greco-Roman competition, Leister Bowling IV and Aidan Squier advanced to the repechage round following losses to Armenia’s Samvel Terteryan and Japan’s Taizo Yoshida, respectively. Other Greco-Roman competitors, Trayvn Boger and Nicholas Sorrow, were eliminated from medal contention.

In the women’s freestyle division, Everest Leydecker became only the fourth American woman to win two U20 World titles by defeating Japan’s Nana Kozuka with a second-period pin in the 55 kg championship match. Caley Graber secured a bronze medal in the 59 kg division by pinning Mongolia’s Gundegmaa Enkhbaatar, and 17-year-old Taina Fernandez earned bronze in the 68 kg category after defeating Russia’s Evangeliia Berezhnova. Karlee Brooks and Piper Fowler both finished in fifth place in their respective weight classes.

The United States finished fourth in the overall women’s freestyle team standings with 118 points, marking the only nation to place a wrestler in the top 10 across all ten weight classes. Japan won the team title.
