USC Trojans move to 2-0 following shutout win over Fresno State

The No. 14 USC Trojans have started the season 2-0 following a 39-0 shutout victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs. Quarterback Jayden Maiava earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors after recording 349 passing yards and three touchdowns on 23-of-25 passing. Through two games, Maiava has accumulated 635 yards and five touchdowns with an 88.9 percent completion rate.

Head coach Lincoln Riley noted improvements in team consistency and defensive performance, which is now led by defensive coordinator Gary Patterson. The Trojans' defense contributed significantly to the shutout, including two safeties. Following the win, Maiava presented Riley with a game ball, signaling strong player buy-in within the program.

USC is scheduled to host the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, September 12. The game will be broadcast on BTN.
