U.S. corn ending stocks rise 35% to 2.10 billion bushels
U.S. corn ending stocks rose 35% compared to the previous year, reaching 2.10 billion bushels as of September 1, 2026, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of these stocks, off-farm inventories saw a significant increase of 44%, totaling 1.31 billion bushels.
Market analysts noted that higher-than-expected yields and production estimates have pressured corn prices. The USDA revised corn yields upward in 16 states, with notable increases in Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio, and South Dakota. Specifically, the corn yield was estimated at 181.2 bushels per acre, exceeding previous expectations.
In contrast to the rise in corn, wheat stocks fell by 14% to 1.85 billion bushels, and soybean stocks decreased by 3% compared to the previous year.
