Ushuaia Joins Bloomberg Youth Climate Fund, Launches Youth Project Call

The municipality of Ushuaia will become part of Bloomberg Philanthropies' Youth Climate Action Fund. The city will open an open call in August for innovative projects led by young people aged 15 to 24. Selected proposals will receive micro‑grants ranging from US$1,500 to US$5,000 and technical assistance from Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Johns Hopkins University.

Projects must align with Ushuaia’s Local Climate Action Plan 2030 and can address adaptation, mitigation, public‑space creation, disaster resilience and other climate‑related challenges. The initiative is coordinated by the city’s Secretariat of Government, with support from the Secretariats of Environmental, Cultural and Educational Policies and the Secretariat of Women and Human Development. Ushuaia joins more than 300 municipalities worldwide that are participating in the program, which aims to empower youth and strengthen local climate action.

Mayor Walter Vuoto highlighted the fund as a historic opportunity for young citizens to directly influence municipal climate policies.
