Tierra del Fuego officials and CGT discuss economic and labor crisis
Authorities and labor leaders in Tierra del Fuego are addressing the province's critical economic and employment situation. Governor Gustavo Melella and Ushuaia Mayor Walter Vuoto held meetings with representatives from the Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT) to discuss the impact of national economic policies on local production and job security.
Key concerns raised during these discussions include the loss of jobs, particularly regarding workers at Mirgor, and the decline in purchasing power. Labor leaders emphasized the need to protect the local industry and essential services such as health and education.
In Ushuaia, Vice-Mayor Gabriela Muñiz Siccardi participated in the ‘Líderes del Fin del Mundo’ forum, highlighting the necessity of collaboration between the state and the private sector to drive investment. The forum focused on leveraging Ushuaia’s strategic position for tourism, fishing, and professional training to foster regional development.
