Ushuaia power plant begins historic equipment unloading operation

On Tuesday, the unloading, transport and storage of more than 6,200 tonnes of equipment for the new Ushuaia power plant began. The ten‑day operation is being carried out by Logística Antártica S.A. together with Austral Petróleo, Gas y Electricidad S.A., under the coordination of the provincial government, the Energy Directorate and local traffic authorities.

The work involves moving containers, conventional loads and oversized pieces using special vehicles, fifteen trucks and five trailers that will complete over 250 trips from the Port of Ushuaia to the plant site along Avenida Perito Moreno. Energy Minister Gabriela Castillo described the start as a "historic day" that will shape the city’s energy future for decades. Conventional loads are moved between 07:00‑19:00, while larger pieces are shifted between 09:00‑17:00 for safety and visibility.
